Some of our clients have reported a permissions error message when adding a shared calendar in Outlook 2011.\u00a0When attempting to add the shared calendar, they\u00a0receive the following message: \u201cOutlook cannot open the folder. You do not have permission to open this folder. Contact <Calendar owner\u2019s name> for permission.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fix for this is as follows:<\/p>\n
If the calendar owner is running Outlook 2016, click on the calendar tab on the bottom and click on \u201cCalendar Permissions\u201d near the top\/center of the page. Then, click on the \u201cPermissions\u201d tab. Here is where you can add the people with whom you want to share your calendar.<\/p>\n
After adding the person\u2019s e-mail you will choose \u201cPermission Level\u201d with a drop down list. You can change the level of access to your calendar\u00a0using these selections.<\/p>\n
*Important*: The lowest permission needed in order for shared calendars to work is \u201cReviewer.” Anything selected under \u201cReviewer\u201d in the drop down list will give you the error message shown above.<\/p>\n
