A standard block-board is a panel with a solid wood core, generally made of pine or poplar. \nThis board is finished with a rotary-cut veneer or a thin chipboard or MDF board. \nThe specific product structure used for block-boards means that the finished product may be labelled as 'solid wood'. \nThe screw-holding power and machinability are within the parameters of regular solid wood.<\/p>\n \n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\n <\/div>\n

Construction<\/h3>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Block board is made up of a core of softwood strips. The strips are placed edge to edge and sandwiched between veneers of hardwood. A single veneer on both sides is known as 3-ply. A double veneer on both sides is called 5-ply. The sandwich is then glued under high pressure.<\/p>\n \n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\n <\/div>\n
